The Hollywood star stopped off for a quick drink with Oblivion co-star Olga Kurylenko ahead of the movie's Dublin premiere that evening.
After being taught the 'six steps' to making the perfect drink and receiving a round of applause for his efforts at the Guinness Gravity Bar, Cruise jested: "Now when do we get to drink it?"
Performing a toast to Ireland, the 50-year-old - who sported a pair of Top Gun-esque Aviators for the occasion - declared himself to be a fan of the beverage and received a certificate for his pint-pouring abilities.
Cruise later posed for photographers with the pint still in his hand, and can be seen taking sneaky sips throughout the rest of the event in a video released by Guinness, his lips covered in the drink's trademark white head.
The Mission: Impossible actor later visited Dublin's Department of Foreign Affairs where he received a certificate of Irishness from Irish Government and Tourism Ireland.
He then reunited with Kurylenko, who appropriately donned a full length green dress, and Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski for the premiere at the city's Savoy Cinema.
A featurette exploring the sci-fi's Icelandic locations was released by Digital Spy this week.
Oblivion is released in UK cinemas on April 10, and comes out in the US on April 19.
