Gary Barlow writing West End musical?

Gary Barlow is reportedly writing a West End musical.

The Take That star is thought to be basing the musical around his the band's rise to fame. It is also rumoured that he has already started writing and recording the songs with Eliott Kennedy, who has written hits for S Club 7, Spice Girls and Five.

A source told The Mirror: "Gary's the happiest he's ever been in his career right now and loves being given the freedom to write music and take on different projects.

"He's really pleased that the musical has come to light and has loads of ideas to make it a West End hit."

Gary Barlow holds his OBE, for services to the entertainment industry and to charity, which was awarded to him by Queen Elizabeth II during an Investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace in central London.

Take That's music was previously used in the musical Never Forget. Also written by Barlow, the show opened in London in 2008.

Barlow will return to The X Factor for a third series later this year.
