She appeared in Scottish drama Take the High Road for nine years, and also had roles in Taggart and EastEnders.

McRoberts's body was found at Fulham Broadway station on Wednesday (July 17).

Her agent Katie Threlfall described the actress as "well-loved" and "vibrant", and that her death was "unbelievably shocking".

She said: "It's just a terrible, terrible loss of a wonderful woman. Nobody had any idea it was going to happen. Her husband is deeply shocked.

"She was a wonderful woman who had troubles and she will be very much missed. She was so well-loved and was the most vibrant character you could hope to meet. It is just a tragedy."

Briony McRoberts also had roles in Heartbeat and The Bill, while also appearing as Margo Fassbender in The Pink Panther Strikes Again.

She also starred in many productions in the West End, including playing Wendy Darling in Peter Pan at the Shaftesbury Theatre in 1980.

British Transport Police said that they are not treating the death as suspicious.
