Usher has thanked those who recently helped save his son from a public pool.

The singer's 5-year-old son Usher Raymond V was rescued by two male employees after his arm became stuck in a drain.

The child is said to have been trying to get a toy from the drain, and was given CPR by the men before being rushed to hospital.

"I would like to thank my Aunt Rena as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock," Usher said in a statement.

"I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son's life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews.

"They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them."

He continued: "I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and is recovering. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, love and support for my family's well-being."

Usher's ex-partner Tameka Foster has reportedly issued a hearing to get primary custody of their children following the incident.

Last year, Usher's 11-year-old former stepson - Foster's son Kyle Glover - passed away from serious head trauma sustained during a jet ski accident.
