Simpson and Mayer back together?

Jessica Simpson and John Mayer could be back together, according to sources.

The pair split last week, but Mayer was yesterday seen leaving the hotel where Simpson is currently staying.

Simpson only returned from the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday evening, and seems to have gone to meet her ex straight away.

However, a friend of Simpson's warns that the couple are not immediately back where they used to be, and it would be a while before their relationship would regain its former status. "They definitely went on a date last night," the source confirmed. "She still loves him... but he's scared of commitment. He breaks up with her and then regrets it and then begs her to get back together."
