JK Rowling will attend a book signing at midnight on the night the final Harry Potter book is released.

The author will give her time between 12am and dawn on July 21 to sign 1,700 copies of the seventh book, which will be given away to randomly chosen winners.

The signing will take place in London's Natural History Museum, with the first 500 competition winners also treated to a reading of the book from Rowling.

Competition entries are being taken by Bloomsbury on their official website, with applications closing on June 11.
