Corinne Bailey Rae avoids tour homesickness

Corinne Bailey Rae has revealed that she has coped well with touring away from home.

The British singer has been performing in America as a support act for John Legend over the past few months, but she hasn't felt homesick because she is so close to her band and backing singers.

"I've been touring with this band for so long that you become like friends, like family," Corinne explained at the Ivor Novello Awards. "You're close to people. My backing singers have been sleeping over in my double bed watching DVDs for the whole tour."

Corinne also denied claims that she will be taking on the lead role in Aretha Franklin's forthcoming biographical musical.

"I heard that she'd seen a picture of me and thought 'this person would be good to play me in a musical', but I think when she saw me on TV she realised that we didn't really look that similar in real life," she said.
