Britney: 'I hit rock bottom'

Britney Spears says she hit rock bottom when she checked into rehab early in 2007.

The 25-year-old posted a message on her official website explaining that she "genuinely did not know what to do with [herself]" following her split from dancer Kevin Federline, which precipitated a dramatic hair cut and months of partying with friends Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.

Spears added: "I have had to cut so many people out of my life. You never know another person's intentions or what another person wants. I feel I was too open and looking for answers when I had it all to begin with."
