Michael: 'There was no Wham! romance'

George Michael has insisted that he was never romantically involved with his Wham! bandmate Andrew Ridgeley.

Wham! became pop pin-ups in the mid-eighties, scoring ten top ten hits in just four years, before Michael ended their chart run to become a solo star.

The pair's stage chemistry prompted rumours that they were romantically involved, but Michael denied that he was ever attracted to his bandmate.

He told Gay Times: "Andrew was beautiful but not in a way that was going to attract me. He was too pretty, too feminine, too elegant. I can understand everyone thinking we were sleeping together, but he loves women."

Michael is planning to marry his long-term partner Kenny Goss at the end of his current tour. Ridgeley lives with Bananarama star Keren Woodward in Cornwall.
