George Michael has been informed that he will not receive a prison sentence for driving while unfit through drugs.

District Judge Katherine Marshall told north London's Brent Magistrates Court, where Michael was trialled last month, that she was considering giving the 43-year-old singer a suspended sentence or community service for the offence.

The 'Faith' star is currently at Brent Magistrates Court awaiting his sentence.

He was arrested on October 1 after being found slumped at the steering wheel of his car in Cricklewood, north London.

The singer, who will play the first concert at the new Wembley Stadium tomorrow, expressed remorse for the incident, telling the court: "I was ashamed I had done something really wrong in putting other people at risk."
