Keith Allen proud to be an "outsider"

Robin Hood star Keith Allen has revealed that he is proud to be an "outsider".

The actor, whose autobiography Grow Up was released this month, insisted that being an outsider has given him a unique perspective on life.

"I don't think there's anything wrong with being a bit of an outsider, I think it gives you a certain objectivity about the world. Its not lonely place to be or anything," Keith told Parkinson. "I mean, I say in the book I've got tremendous friendships and I have a wonderful relationship with my family and all the rest of it. It's fine but there is an element of me that is just slightly withdrawn.

"You're just very aware I guess of the consequences of everything that you see at every given moment. Sometimes it means that you won't commit to something other times it means that you over commit to a certain thing. It's not a problem, I love being an outsider, it's been fantastic. I don't like joining gangs; I've never liked to join a gang."

Parkinson airs at 10.25pm tonight on ITV1.
