Paolo Nutini was forced to turn down a male admirer after he inadvertently sent out the wrong signals at a gig.
The 20-year-old 'Rewind' singer, who has been dating girlfriend Teri Brogan for years, was once advised to focus on a random girl in the audience and sing to her.
"But once when I did it a guy came up to me later and said, 'I saw you looking at me throughout that song'," he recalled. "I said: 'I'm sorry man, I think there was a girl right beside you,' And he went: 'Aww, it wasn't me?' It was the most awkward moment."
Even though Nutini asserted his heterosexuality, the admirer was undeterred. "Then he left his number in my hand!" he added. "Ten out of ten for trying but ever since then I've not run the risk again!"
