Tony Blair feared Gallagher visit
Former Prime Minister Tony Blair was scared that Noel Gallagher "might do something crazy" when he paid him a visit at Downing Street ten years ago.

A set of diaries from his then spokesperson Alistair Campbell, which were published yesterday, reveal that the PM had no idea the Oasis star was attending the music industry reception in 1997.

Campbell wrote: "TB (Tony Blair) was worried that Noel Gallagher was coming to the reception tomorrow. He said he had no idea he had been invited.

"TB felt he was bound to do something crazy. I spoke to (Creation Records boss) Alan McGee and said can we be assured he would behave."

Blair was informed by the rock and roll star's label that he wouldn't cause any trouble, who admitted "it might have been different" if Noel's brother Liam had been in attendance.

The book reveals that Noel was impressed by his trip, with Campbell writing: "He said he thought Number 10 was 'tops', said he couldn't believe that there was an ironing board in there."
