50 Cent has revealed that the birth of his son changed his outlook on life.
The In Da Club rapper was only eight years old when his mother was killed, and he decided that he would learn from her mistakes in 1997, when then-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins gave birth to their son Marquise.
"My little boy is my motivation," he explained. "He's really the reason why I had a real firm focus on writing music. It's weird that my mum went in the opposite direction when I was born.
"She didn't see welfare as an option, so she started to hustle and the things that came with that lifestyle. And she ended up being killed in that situation."
