Kate Nash hits out at 'sexist' media
Published Thursday, Jul 12 2007, 16:12 BST | By Nick Levine

The 19-year-old Londoner, whose single ‘Foundations’ is currently at number two in the charts, lavished praise on Allen for helping her to get ahead in the music industry, but urged people to let the connection go.
Discussing the comparisons, she told the NME: "It's frustrating for both of us - we've talked about it and it's frustrating as f**k. What's more, it's sexism. It's like, there's enough room for as many boys in indie bands as you like, but there can only be two young, London-born girls? What absolute nonsense.
"I love Lily and she's been brilliant to me - she's really into girls getting ahead and she basically opened loads of doors for me to be able to do this. Basically, she reinvented what it meant to be a solo, female pop star. But it's f**king bulls**t that it seems to be an issue to so many people."
