Britney Spears has been criticised by the Humane Society for buying a puppy from a pet shop in LA.
The singer reportedly spent $3,000 on the Yorkshire terrier at Pets of Bel Air after spending just 30 minutes browsing the store.
Stephanie Shain, the society's director of outreach for companion animals, said in a statement: "Choosing a dog is a major lifestyle decision that should not be taken lightly.
"Ms Spears is setting a damaging example to the public. Most dogs sold in pet stores come from puppy mills - factory-like facilities churning out purebred and 'designer' puppies in large numbers."
Britney bought a Chihuahua puppy from the same store in January.
Pets of Bel Air has denied buying from puppy mills, claiming it only deals directly with breeders.
