Rowling felt "low" after finishing 'Potter'
JK Rowling has admitted that she felt "incredibly low" after finishing work on the final Harry Potter novel.

The best-selling author reflected back on the 17 years that it took to write the Harry Potter series when she completed the final chapter of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

"The first two days were terrible. I was incredibly low. I felt devastated. I was mourning the loss of this world that I had written for so long and loved so much," Rowling told NBC's Today show.

"I was also mourning the retreat it had been from ordinary life. And it forced me to look back at 17 years of my life and remember things. I went through the birth of three children, two serious bereavements, break-up of a marriage. And lots of happy memories. It threw me back into all that."

However, after a week had passed, Rowling realised that she was pleased by the prospect of pursuing other projects: "I felt light and thought: 'I can write whatever I like. The pressure's off.'"
