Waters, who worked with Lohan on Mean Girls and Freaky Friday, vowed that he will not recruit the actress for any more of his films until he is convinced that she has turned over a new leaf.
Lindsay was arrested for drink driving and possession of cocaine on Tuesday, but she later claimed that the drugs did not belong to her.
"Unlike other celebrities in the news going to jail, she's actually somebody who has got verifiable talent and actually good at what she does," Waters told People magazine. "I'm certainly not going to be seeking her out until she gets her personal life in order. On a business level, most companies aren't going to want to take the chance making a movie with someone who is unreliable."
However, Mark added that there is a chance of Lohan eventually bouncing back from the recent controversy, as he believes that she is one of Hollywood's best young actresses.
"I think eventually, because she is good, she will get around to working again," he said. "She's still so young. She's only 21. If you don't want to attract the attention, you don't have to attract the attention. But if you crave the attention, believe me, they're there to snap it for you."
