Lindsay Lohan's father has withdrawn a request for his estranged wife Dina to be tested for drugs.

Appearing in divorce court yesterday, Michael Lohan announced that he was not continuing with the tactic, which he had previously hoped would increase his chances of securing visitation rights. He is currently only permitted to speak to 13-year-old daughter Aliana and 10-year-old son Dakota over the phone.

Michael recently stated that Dina Lohan's own personal problems could have been a contributing factor towards Mean Girls actress Lindsay's brushes with the law.

His attorney John DiMascio Jr has insisted that, despite withdrawing the request, Michael is still doing "everything he possibly can to reunite with his children." Meanwhile, Dina told reporters outside the court room that the order should never have been made in the first place.

The Lohans are expected to return to divorce court on August 10.
