Brown's legal representative, Gloria Allred, claimed a DNA test has "established paternity, but paternity has not been legally acknowledged".
The lawyer also claimed progress was being made with the organisation of child support payments.
The Beverly Hills Cop star's spokesman, said: "We do not comment on Mr Murphy's personal life."
The Dreamgirls actor has continually denied the Spice Girl's claims, saying in December: "I don't know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions."
The pop star has said she wants her daughter to understand she was planned by both her parents, adding: "I want her to know that she has two parents who desire to be responsible for her during her life and who love her so much that want to be a part of it."
