Former Sugababe to star in West End
Published Friday, Aug 3 2007, 10:33 BST | By Nick Levine

She will star alongside former Hollyoaks: In The City actor Leon Lopez in a "21st century remix" of Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical.
William Baker, who previously worked as Kylie Minogue's creative director, will helm the production, while Steve Anderson, a former songwriting partner of Minogue, will act as its musical supervisor.
Baker said: "When Rent was first produced, Jonathan tragically died at the point when it would have been tightened up. We’ve edited it a lot, taken it down to its core: down to core relationships and issues.
"We’ve preserved the basic melodies, but the arrangements are completely different, ranging from burlesque to hard core grunge to pop. I think we’ve been true to Jonathan’s original intentions, the story and the music he wrote."
Rent opens on October 16 at the Duke of York's Theatre.
