Chris Tarrant was unfaithful to his wife Ingrid because she had imposed a seven-year sex ban.
The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? host was dumped by Ingrid in September last year, when it emerged that he had been cheating on her with schoolteacher Fiona McKechnie for years. Now a pal has revealed that Chris would visit Fiona every time Ingrid refused to sleep with him.
A source close to Tarrant told the News of the World: "Ingrid just went off sex and imposed a ban. They loved each other but seven years is a long time to wait for a bit of nookie. To be honest it just drove him into the arms of Fiona and there was nothing that he could do about it, he couldn't help himself."
The friend added: "They had 15 years of marriage behind them but it has all gone up in smoke because of his cheating. But it's true to say that if he and Ingrid had been getting it on in the marital bed, this affair would never have happened."
The pair were granted a divorce in February.
