Britney Spears hires new manager

Britney Spears has hired Kelly Clarkson's old manager Jeff Kwatinetz, according to reports.

Kwatinetz, the ex-fiancé of actress Brittany Murphy, has agreed to help the troubled singer to resurrect her pop career. He was fired by Clarkson in June, after she fell out with Sony BMG chief Clive Davis and the feud became public.

Britney will now be hoping that her new manager will help her to make headlines for a singing comeback, rather than for her personal problems. Recent incidents have seen Spears having a meltdown during a photoshoot for OK! magazine, storming out of a video shoot, and allegedly threatening a paparazzi photographer.

Jeff's management company The Firm currently has a number of other stars on its books, including Cameron Diaz, Mandy Moore, Korn, Enrique Iglesias and Ice Cube.
