Jane Seymour taken to court over parties
Published Tuesday, Aug 7 2007, 10:32 BST | By Kimberley Dadds
Jane Seymour has been preparing to face a court case today after a group of neighbours complained about the number of all-night parties taking place at her country house.
The 56-year-old actress was granted a 24-hour alcohol and entertainment license to be able to hold events at the grade one listed manor home in Bath.
But a number of complaints have since been made about the "totally inappropriate" noise that has been disturbing the otherwise quiet neighbourhood.
Both Seymour and her husband James Keach could first appear in court on August 14, but it is unclear whether she will have to be present.
Local parish council chairman Ian Plaister said: "They have gone about this in completely the wrong way. What we are concerned about is the public nuisance because traffic is clogging up a road that is only eight feet wide. That is totally inappropriate.
"The anger and frustration about the way in which the owners have chosen to impose a commercial business on local people left us with no choice but legal action.”
The actress also faces a review over whether planning permission is needed to change the property into a commercial venue as part of the court case.
