Usher's mother avoids his wedding

Usher's mother Jonetta Patton did not attend the R&B star's wedding to Tameka Foster at the weekend.

The singer tied the knot with Foster in a simple civil ceremony, reportedly held at his lawyer's office. They had planned to marry on the previous weekend, but the event was called off at the last minute.

People magazine has reported that Patton decided to spend the day at a spa in Atlanta when her son exchanged vows with Foster. Rumours which circulated after the cancelled ceremony suggested that Patton does not get along with her daughter-in-law.

A source close to the family added that Usher did not tell most of his other relatives about his plans. The source explained: "Some people didn't know about it until a day later. But that's Usher and Tameka for you. One thing one day and a whole other thing the next."
