Darren Hayes baffled by sex symbol status

Former Savage Garden star Darren Hayes has revealed how his experiences with fans have changed since he announced that he is gay.
The singer, who is expected to enter the UK top ten with 'On The Verge Of Something Wonderful' this weekend, has admitted that many supporters hope to steal him away from his partner Richard Cullen.
"There's a lot more guys at my gigs," Darren told the Daily Star. "One yelled: 'I'm pitching a tent for you!' I could have died. The idea of being a sex object is a bit laughable."
Darren recently described coming out as an "intensely private" and "painful" experience.
