Naomi Watts ambushed by paparazzi

Naomi Watts needed police protection when she was ambushed by paparazzi at a grocery store in LA.

The King Kong actress was forced to hide in the garden of the Whole Foods supermarket when an estimated thirty photographers swarmed the area.

A number of snappers followed Watts as she browsed the store, while others shot her from outside the windows. After paying her bill, the Australian star – who gave birth to Liev Schreiber's son last month – stayed hidden as LAPD and security staff cleared the car park.

An employee at the store told Ninemsn.com: "The paparazzi just came from everywhere. It becomes a safety issue for customers, especially in the car park, which is busy enough without all those guys with cameras."
