Walliams becomes Polish gay icon

Walliams in 'Little Britain'

David Walliams has become a gay icon in Poland since Little Britain was screened on the state broadcaster TVP.

The comedy series, which features characters such as Matt Lucas' Dafydd Thomas, who claims to be the only gay in the village, has proved a hit since it was first shown in April.

Walliams' Prime Minister-obsessed Sebastian Love character has been a particular favourite of Polish viewers.

Mirka Makuchowska from the Polish Campaign Against Homophobia told The Sun: "Little Britain has made a huge impact here. Especially David Walliams when he is playing Sebastian.

"It has even made many think of moving to Britain." The gay campaigner claimed that Walliams was an "Inspiration" and an "important" figure for the country's gay community.

Although the Polish version of the show was censored, Makuchowska added: "The scenes where Sebastian expresses his love for the PM is something unheard of here."
