Beckham not recognised at White House

David Beckham was given a tour of the White House yesterday - but President George Bush's staff members failed to recognise him.

The footballer, who arrived in the States to join LA Galaxy last month, turned up for a VIP tour of the building, but was left feeling embarrassed when Bush's secretary asked who he was.

A source told the Daily Star: "She didn't recognise him and asked if he was a relative of a staffer."

Beckham has been criticised by some LA Galaxy fans for spending too much time on the substitute bench since joining the club.

The insider added: "It's no wonder he is not recognised. He's hardly kicked a ball."
