Simpson dumped husband after Africa trip

Jessica Simpson has revealed that she dumped husband Nick Lachey after a charity trip to Africa.

The 27-year-old ended her marriage to the former 98 Degrees singer in 2005 after three years together.

The singer-turned-actress claimed that witnessing poverty in Kenya made her realise what is important in life, saying: "People out there need to go to Third World countries and sit with children for a little bit."

Simpson - who broke her nose on the set of her new film - added that therapy and writing in her diary helped her survive the couple's high-profile split.

She said: "I write in my journal. I believe in therapy as well."
