Hawke speaks about marriage breakdown

Ethan Hawke has admitted that he struggled to cope with the success of Uma Thurman's acting career when they were together.
The 36-year-old, who married Kill Bill star Uma in 1998, revealed that his ego took a battering during the relationship. The couple eventually decided to file for divorce in 2004.
"It's unfair when one person's career is taking off and the other is really suffering," Ethan explained on US TV show Sunday Morning Shootout. "What happens is that the person you share your life with isn't in the mood to. You want to have a pity party for yourself, but they're off to the Golden Globes and you don't want to go because everyone is going to think you are jealous."
Hawke added that the marriage failed because he and Thurman did not spend enough time together.
He said: "There's a certain geometry to life - that life has a certain math equation to it and if you're never together, you can't build a home."
