Peter Kay has been named as the funniest comedian in the UK after he was voted as Britain's favourite comic.
The Phoenix Nights star gained nearly a third of the votes and reached top of the poll jointly with Scottish funnyman Billy Connolly.
A survey by drinks company Vimto tried to find the favourite comedians in each region of the country, with Gervais gaining 10 per cent of the votes and Skinner only getting 4 per cent.
The poll also found that Bolton-born Kay was liked even more in the North-West of England, with over 50 per cent voting for him as their top comic.
