Darren Hayes has denied reports that he racially attacked a member of staff at a Thai restaurant in Soho.
The ex-Savage Garden frontman was questioned by police following claims that he had verbally abused a waiter at Busaba Eathai in Wardour Street last month.
The Australian star's spokesman said in a statement: "Darren is unable to comment to any extent as the incident is presently under investigation by the police, with whom he has co-operated fully."
But he added: "However, he is deeply upset at the allegation which he strenuously denies and anyone who knows Darren will recognise that the particular nature of the allegation is totally abhorrent to him and contrary to everything for which he has stood."
Hayes has been released on bail pending further inquiries until September 21.
