Jamelia doesn't believe Byfield cheated

Jamelia has insisted that rumours about footballer Darren Byfield cheating on her did not lead to their split.

Last week, the 'Superstar' singer announced that she had parted from Darren, who is the father of her second child, Tiani. Reports suggested that their break-up had been influenced by Sunday newspaper claims that Darren had been unfaithful, which were first printed last year.

"Living your relationship in the public eye is a difficult thing to do, especially when both of you are under the spotlight," Jamelia told The Sun. "I still love Darren and we will remain the best of friends. I absolutely know the rumours about him are not true and they played no part in our break-up."

Asked how she is coping with the split, Jamelia replied: "I'm doing OK. I'm a practical person and I've got two children to look after so I'm not going to fall apart. I'm not scared about being a single mum again as I don't see myself that way. Darren has always played such an active role in the kids' lives and I'm confident that he always will. He's a fantastic father."
