Nikki Sixx has appealed to stars such as Lindsay Lohan to take rehab seriously and turn their lives around.
The Motley Crue hellraiser warned that the actress and her friends are in danger of becoming "just another celebrity who died from partying too hard".
He claims treatment only works if the patient is serious about a change of lifestyle, but believes that it is not too late for Lohan - who is currently in rehab for the third time this year - to sort herself out.
He said: "In '85, I went through rehab and I wasn't ready. If you're not ready, you're not ready. You don't want to hear the truth and you're gonna keep doing what you keep doing.
"There's a really cold saying: 'Some people have to die so the rest of us can live.' And I was living my life like I was one of those people, and then it was only through not dying that I was like, 'wow, life is really amazing.'
"Reflecting back, we all make mistakes, we all go through our stuff - relationships, financial, all kinds of stuff - and if you can grow from that and pass that message on, it's a pretty cool thing".
