Amy Winehouse defends her husband

Amy Winehouse has spoken out in defence of her husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

The 'Rehab' singer insisted that she was responsible for the couple's bloodied appearance in recent press photos, which sparked rumours that Blake had attacked her with a knife.

In a series of statements sent by text message to celebrity gossip columnist Perez Hilton, Winehouse claimed that Blake came to her rescue when he caught her cutting herself, while she was preparing to take drugs with a call girl at a London hotel.

"Blake is the best man in the world. We would never, ever harm each other," Amy explained. "I was cutting myself after he found me in our room about to do drugs with a call girl and, rightly, said I wasn't good enough for him. I lost it and he saved my life."

"I'll be all right," she continued. "I need to fight my man's corner for him though... He is an amazing man who saved my life again and got cut badly for his troubles. All he gets is horrible stories printed about him and he just keeps quiet."
