Avril Lavigne wants to become film star

Avril Lavigne has claimed that she wants to take a break from recording music to begin a career in acting.

The 'Girlfriend' pop star told Q: "I want to get into movies next, a lead role in a super cool indie flick."

Lavigne revealed that she has been getting interest from several movie-makers in recent years, but nothing yet has appealed to her tastes.

The singer added: "I've been looking at scripts for the past two years now and most of them have been s**t, but I know I could be real good at it. I have an agent now and everything."
