Kanye West has slammed television bosses in charge of planning the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday for letting Britney Spears open the show instead of him.

The 'Toxic' singer was the first to perform at the Las Vegas ceremony, opening with her new track 'Gimme More'.

But West, who is currently number two in the US singles chart with single 'Stronger', thinks that he should have been the one to start the proceedings instead of Spears, whose performance has since been panned by critics.

He said: "Honestly, I really don't care. I don't give a f**k about Britney performing.

"I should have opened the MTV awards because 'Stronger' is the number one song in the country. It just shows you that you have to do s**t to get ratings, and maybe they feel like they will get more ratings with Britney."
