50 Cent has decided to splash out £870,000 on transport and security for a six-mile trip.

The 'In Da Club' rapper has agreed to perform at the Vodafone Live Music Awards in West London on Wednesday, before attending the MOBOs at the 02 Arena in East London. As he only has a short amount of time to make the trip, 50 is prepared to pay almost £1 million to ensure that he arrives promptly.

50, real name Curtis Jackson, has booked five top-of-the-range SUVs for himself and his entourage at a cost of £500,000. Part of the journey will be made by helicopter, so he has parted with a further £70,000 for three private helicopters and a helipad. A team of ex-special forces, costing £300,000, will escort him for the journey.

A source told The Mirror: "He is aware that it's extravagant but he wants to get there in good time and chill out before his performance. Even this won't be easy. There are discussions to cordon off roads to speed up the process. He's determined not to let anyone down."

A spokesman for 50 confirmed: "He'll do whatever it takes to get to the MOBOs in ample time."
