Ferrell auctioning film cameo chance

Will Ferrell is auctioning off the chance to make a cameo appearance in his next film, with the proceeds going to his friend's cancer charity.

The Anchorman actor is giving fans the opportunity to meet him at the end of September at the 14th annual Cancer for College golf tournament, before filming begins next month on new movie Step Brothers.

Any money that is raised from the auction will go to Ferrell's college friend Craig Pollard's Cancer for College foundation.

Bidding will start today at £2,500, with the online auction closing on September 26. The winner will be announced the following day.

Ferrell said: "What a perfect Christmas present for your son or daughter.

"It is the surefire way to win the parent of the year award. Support this amazing cause, by buying them me."

Pollard, who has twice survived and recovered from Hodgkin's disease, opened up the charity to give cancer patients and survivors scholarships to college and has awarded 50 people a total of £100,000 since 1993.
