DJ Kershaw admits to breaching order

Published Tuesday, Sep 18 2007, 15:56 BST | By Kimberley Dadds
Former Radio One presenter Andy Kershaw has pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order banning him from approaching his former partner Juliette Banner.

The BBC Radio Three DJ was arrested last month when he broke the order on the Isle of Man, where both Banner and he live, and was also caught driving under the influence of alcohol.

The 48-year-old entered the guilty plea at the Deputy Bailiff's Court in Douglas where court was adjourned until October 19.

Kershaw has been banned from driving a car, must avoid establishments that sell alcohol, has to commit to a nightly curfew and must co-operate with the probation service as part of his bail conditions.

Banner, who has two children with the radio personality, was granted the restraining order on August 1, but he tried to call at her house in Peel on August 29, causing alarm and distress.

After being arrested he was granted bail on September 4. He was also stopped earlier this month while driving his car and was found to be over the legal limit of alcohol.
