O.J. Simpson has been released on bail after he was arrested in connection with the burglary of sports memorabilia at a hotel in Las Vegas.

The former footballer has been accused of being part of an gang of armed men who took the goods from the Palms Hotel.

Simpson paid £62,500 for the bail. He is being charged with two counts of robbery with the use of a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, coercion, and burglary with a deadly weapon.

He has claimed that he was just trying to get back the goods that had been stolen from him originally, but there are a number of problems surrounding the case, including the matter of who had rightful ownership of the memorabilia.

It is also claimed that the 'shady' reputation of the witnesses who say they saw Simpson at the scene could cause issues. Law professor at the University of Southern California, Jody Armour, said: "The credibility of the cohorts in the enterprise would be a key issue at trial."
