Mime legend Marcel Marceau dies

French mime artist Marcel Marceau has passed away aged 84.
Marceau, who created the famous melancholic clown Bip, starred in several films including Joseph's Gift, Barbarella and Silent Movie.
Born Marcel Mangel in 1923, Marceau studied US silent film after the end of World War II, in which he had fought with the French army.
Marceau was given his big break in 1945 when Jean-Louis Barrault cast him in a version of Les Enfants du Paradis, for which he won critical acclaim.
In 2002, Marceau was invited to become a UN goodwill ambassador for a conference on aging.
The legendary mime act died on Saturday, surrounded by his family.
