A woman who alleges to be James Brown's oldest daughter has launched an appeal asking that all people claiming to be a child of the singer should undergo a DNA test before the will is separated out.

The soul legend, who died on Christmas Day last year, named six adult children in his will, but three others including LaRhonda Petitt have insisted that DNA tests show that they were also his offspring.

Petitt has announced that she will be appearing in court on Monday to try to claim a part of Brown's estate and has insisted that tests should be carried out on all alleged children.

She said: "I've been walking around looking like this man for 45 years. I'm not talking no negative talk, I'm talking about what's right. Just because they're in the will doesn't mean they're all my daddy's children."

Petitt's attorney Jim Griffin revealed that she has launched paternity action to show that she is Brown's daughter. She also filed two separate claims over his estate to be allowed a share as a natural child that had not been provided for in the will, and also a claim to win back child support.
