According to People, legal papers filed with the Superior Court of California show that the star enrolled in the "SB 38 Alcohol Programme" on Wednesday.
The scheme is said to be aimed at people who have been convicted of DUI more than once in seven years. It comprises 52 hours of group counselling, bi-weekly interviews and 12 hours of alcohol education.
The Simple Life star was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs following her arrest last December when her car was found blocking a freeway car pool lane. She failed a sobriety test, telling officers that she had taken prescription painkiller Vicodin.
Richie, who is six months pregnant, was previously convicted of DUI in June 2003.
