Beckham's dad 'conscious and talking'

David Beckham's father is reported to be "conscious and talking" after he suffered a heart attack on Wednesday night.

The footballer rushed back to the UK from Los Angeles to be by his father Ted's side at the London Chest Hospital in Bethnal Green on Thursday morning.

His wife Victoria Beckham also dropped her promotional schedule to fly back from Japan so that she could support the family.

Ted, whose real name is also David, complained of chest pains and suffered a heart attack while in an ambulance on the way to Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone before he was resuscitated.

It is believed he has since undergone surgery and is now in a stable condition, while the celebrity couple are believed to have spent two and a half hours by his bedside.

David's spokesman, Simon Oliviera, said: "He is conscious and talking, and that's a positive step."
