Spears takes test for driver's licence

Britney Spears has applied for a California driver's licence and was asked to carry out a test so that she can be permitted to drive in the state.

The singer, who was ordered to temporarily hand over her two sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline yesterday, then went to the Department of Motor Vehicles in California to apply for the licence and was told to fill out forms and take a written test.

Spears received a misdemeanour charge for driving without a valid California licence last month because she had never been issued with the document, even though she lives in Los Angeles.
