Britney Spears' record label Jive has vowed to support the troubled singer and stick by her through her problems.

The 'Gimme More' singer was slated for her comeback performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last month and has been under constant scrutiny over her ongoing custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Last month her manager Jeff Kwatinez, from LA management company The Firm, announced that he had quit working for the star. But Jive has insisted that it won't be doing the same, and blamed the media for making Spears' problems worse.

A representative from the record label, Allan Mayer, said: "It's not Jive's place to fashion a public relations campaign with respect to Britney's personal issues, but Jive does care about her and does support her.

"We're not pointing fingers - because the media and the paparazzi wouldn't exist if there weren't an appetite for it. But there's no question that when you have someone at this level of celebrity, they become like cartoons or soap-opera characters, and we forget that they're human beings."

He added: "Britney's a grown woman, and she makes her own choices, and we respect that. But she's been at a disadvantage (without a consistent team), and obviously that makes it harder to cope."

Her new single 'Gimme More' will be released on November 5, followed by her new album Blackout on November 13.
