Marianne Faithfull has admitted that she is suffering from Hepatitis C, a virus that affects the liver's ability to function properly.

The 60-year-old singer, who is famed for the depraved lifestyle she and ex-boyfriend Mick Jagger enjoyed in the sixties, was diagnosed with the virus 12 years ago.

Speaking on This Morning, she said: "I don't miss the drugs. I suppose it would be nice to have a glass of wine or something, but it really wouldn't be good for my health. You know I do have Hep C. And the worst thing for that is alcohol.

"Maybe I've given you a scoop there... I found out about 12 years ago... So I'm very, very lucky too there. Life has become much more precious to me and my health has become much more precious to me."

Last year Faithfull was diagnosed with breast cancer, but she has since made a full recovery.
