Eric Clapton: 'I used to shoplift'
Published Friday, Oct 12 2007, 10:32 BST | By Kimberley Dadds

The musician revealed he would spend a lot of his time shoplifting and find it funny when he and his friends would "demolish" carriages on his travels.
Clapton said in his new book, Clapton: The Autobiography: "My friends and I would go shoplifting in Cobham or Woking. We'd get on a train from Guildford, choose an empty compartment and demolish it.
"We would smash mirrors, tear down the maps, cut the luggage nets with our penknives, slash the upholstery to ribbons, then get up hooting with laughter."
